Subway Shakespeare of the Day: I have had it with this motherf*cking Shakespeare on this motherf*cking trai—actually, this is kinda nice.
Fred Jones and Paul Marino, who form the underground Shakespeare company Popeye & Cloudy, roam among NYC subway cars performing choice scenes from Romeo and Juliet, King Lear, and Hamlet.
“I’ve never been one to want to play the game, this odd bureaucracy that comes with wanting to be an artist,” Jones told the New York Times. “Do we get tired? Yes. Is it sometimes grating? Yes. But at the end of the day we can look back and say: Nobody can take this away from us.”
LOL. Props to those guys for willing to be dragged on the floor of a NYC subway train in the name of Shakespeare.
